The buoyancy and resistance of the water allows stretching of muscles, less painful movement of the joints, strengthening of the muscles, improved gait, improved balance. There can also be psychological and social benefits. The atmosphere is also condusive to relaxation with all its subsequent benefits. Back to TopDo I have to be referred to the pool by my GP, Consultant, Physio etc.?No, the pool is out with the NHS system -just contact us directly. If you wish you can ask your GP about the benefits of coming to the pool or if you have a serious health condition ask his/her permission. Back to TopDo I need to be assessed?If you have recently being attending a Hydrotherapy facility and are confident with your rehabilitation regime, you do not need to see our resident Physios Back to TopAfter my assessment, can I turn up anytime and go into the pool?Unfortunately not, as many sessions at the pool are pre-booked by organizations for disabled adults and children. See the timetable on this site for groups labeled 'mobility' - these are available for your use. Back to TopHow long will I have to wait before getting into the pool?The waiting list is about 2 weeks but for 'emergency' admissions we can fit you in sooner. Back to TopI am coming to the Highlands on holiday, Can I use the Pool?Yes. Let us know before your holiday starts so that we can arrange an assessment time for you. You can use the pool four times per week maximum. Back to TopWhat medical conditions prevent me using the pool?It would be inadvisable to attend if you suffer from: Recent strokes, recent pulmonary embolism, recent heart attack or recent deep vein thrombosis. Infected or uncovered wounds, resting angina, double incontinence or cardiac failure. Check with your GP or consultant if you are in doubt. Back to TopI cannot swim, Can I still benefit from using the pool?Yes. At its deepest, the pool is only 1.35m deep and at all times has a qualified lifeguard on duty. There is a rail all the way round the side. Most exercises can be adapted so that you do not have to let go of the rail. We also have a wide range of floats, arm bands etc to help you in the water. Back to TopHow much does it cost?£5 for an initial assessment, £2.50 for subsequent sessions. Individual exercise plans are also available at a cost of £2.00 Back to TopCan I be referred by my GP for free treatment?Not at the moment. The pool is a private, charitable venture and not part of the NHS set-up. It is possible that in the future we may be able to take referrals.
